Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information is collected when you visit sesau.ca (the “Site”), which is operated by Shaun C Esau, and how it is used. The short version: I collect as little as possible, I don’t use cookies or analytics, and I never sell or share your information for marketing.
What’s collected
- Messages you send. If you use the contact form, I receive the name, email address, optional organization and message you provide. They’re emailed to me and stored in a private Google Firebase database so nothing gets lost.
- Server logs. The Site is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting, which keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps) for security and reliability.
- Embedded videos. Video previews load thumbnail images from YouTube. The video player itself only loads when you choose to play a video, and then uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) mode. Once you press play, Google’s privacy policy applies to that video.
The Site doesn’t set cookies or use analytics, advertising or tracking pixels. Fonts are served from the Site itself.
How it’s used
I use what you send me only to read and reply to your message. I keep messages for as long as they’re useful for that conversation, and I delete them sooner if you ask. Information may be disclosed when required by law.
Where it’s stored
Google stores this information on my behalf, and it may be processed in Canada, the United States or elsewhere.
Your rights
Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (and, where they apply, laws such as the EU GDPR), you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you, or ask questions or raise a concern. Email shaun@sesau.ca and I’ll respond promptly.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update it here and revise the date above.

You may link to the Site and share it for personal, non-commercial purposes, but please don’t republish its content without permission. The Site is provided “as is”. I try to keep it accurate and current, but I make no guarantees, and nothing here is an offer of services. Any work together is governed by a separate written agreement. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and I’m not responsible for their content.
Acceptable use
Please don’t use the Site or its contact form for anything unlawful, to send spam or malicious content, or to interfere with the Site’s operation.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Shaun C Esau is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
